I’ve decided to stop blogging, because it’s not a great use of my time and I’m not the best at it anyways.
How to Get the Most Space in Your Browser without Going Fullscreen (Mac)
August 23, 2009If you ever want to do this, because let’s say you want to keep the menu bar showing while pretty much doing fullscreen, you don’t want anyone messing with any toolbars or you want more space on the top or the bottom for any other reason, here’s how: (I only know these will work on a Mac)
Firefox:
- Go to View > Toolbars and uncheck all your toolbars.
- Go under View and uncheck “Status Bar”.
- Ta-Da!
Safari:
- Go under View and make click on the first four items so they all begin with “Show”.
- Ta-Da!
Chrome:
- I couldn’t find a way to do this on Chrome.
Opera:
- Go to View > Toolbars and uncheck all your toolbars.
- Ta-Da!
Here’s what it’ll look like, clean and simple:

Download the Pirate Bay from the Pirate Bay
August 18, 2009As most of you know, The Pirate Bay will be changing ownership in a few days. If you are worried that you won’t be able to get any of the torrents available on the site or want to start your own version of the site, then you can actually download over 800,000 torrent files and a version of the site from a 21.3 GB torrent on The Pirate Bay. Here is the description from the site:
This is a copy of the TPB index.
I crawled their index and since I don’t have the hardware necessary to deploy it to the public, I have decided to release the database.
Remember that all torrents from TPB now have the new tracker openbittorrent.com included, so they will continue to track even after the TPB tracker shuts down.
I have included the program I made to crawl the index, and a mockup website that can read the database.
The database itself is an sqlite3 database.
The index has 873671 torrents, ranging from id 3211594 to 5051940 (2009-08-13).
I only got 873671 torrents, but according to the website the tracker tracks over 2 million torrents.
The discrepancy is most likely due to many torrent files including the TPB tracker but has not been uploaded to the web site.
All my code is in the public domain. Do whatever you want with it!
I have included a public key in case I ever want to claim credit.
Contents:
/tpb.db – The database (22 855 875 584 bytes).
/tpbspider.7z – The program I made to copy TPB.
/htdocs.7z – The mockup website.
/lighttpd.conf – Some rewrite rules you need to use the mockup website.
/pubring.key – My public key.

Edit: Metainfo that is included is the title, category, upload date, size, rating and description of all the torrents. It does not include comments or the uploader’s username.
Edit by Eliteghost: I just want to say this, if this includes all torrents then there will be some fakes, virus’s etc included. This is because we cannot possibly catch everything. So please check everything before you run it and if you are not sure, find out first before you risk harming your most precious baby, your computer.
Edit 2: Guys… I already tried compressing tpb.db and it only saves 2 GB, totally not worth it. Now it’s not long before it’s done though. Have anyone checked out my code, and what do you think about it?
Download it [here].

TechVids: Videos about tech
August 15, 2009I decided to start a site that is dedicated to getting videos about technology from all over the internet and display them on one site.
Verizon Horizon
August 13, 2009I came up with the name and then thought of what it meant.
I think in the future
It won’t be the same
I’m pretty sure
Everything will by copyrighted
From song genres to names
The world will be covered
In factories and CEOs’ mansions.
Cheating, scandals and lovers
Fake IDs and fake media reports
To pull the wool over your eyes of the commercial expansion
Companies are controlling
And they see you, watching
The government is rolling
Head over heels, because they don’t seem to understand the people
Access to all their data and information but still ideas aren’t matching
This is the Verizon Horizon
The gambling country, get what we want and win
The money loving retail land
We left for our kin, god damn
We set in motion
The beginning of the notion
That we need to hate these people
Be quiet and still in the steeple
Do these assignments
Meet these expectations
Work to this extent, for this combination
Of “benefits” and cash
So they can build up their stash
And keep us far away
Parting is Hard to Do
August 12, 2009Just came up with this one while having fun pretending to be a hardcore metal vocalist.
So see me
Look me straight in the eye
And tell me you’ll let me go
Because I don’t think
You would sink so low
Just throwing it all away
I couldn’t count the ways
It’s wrong
For you and I to part
You’re breaking my heart
Facebook buys FriendFeed
August 10, 2009Facebook has bought Friendfeed for almost $50 million in Facebook stock and cash.
Read more about it here or look at the photos from after here.
Facebook released this press release:
“PALO ALTO, CALIF.—August 10, 2009—Facebook today announced that it has agreed to acquire FriendFeed, the innovative service for sharing online. As part of the agreement, all FriendFeed employees will join Facebook and FriendFeed’s four founders will hold senior roles on Facebook’s engineering and product teams.
‘Facebook and FriendFeed share a common vision of giving people tools to share and connect with their friends,” said Bret Taylor, a FriendFeed co-founder and, previously, the group product manager who launched Google Maps. “We can’t wait to join the team and bring many of the innovations we’ve developed at FriendFeed to Facebook’s 250 million users around the world.’
‘As we spent time with Mark and his leadership team, we were impressed by the open, creative culture they’ve built and their desire to have us contribute to it,’ said Paul Buchheit, another FriendFeed co-founder. Buchheit, the Google engineer behind Gmail and the originator of Google’s “Don’t be evil” motto, added, ‘It was immediately obvious to us how passionate Facebook’s engineers are about creating simple, ground-breaking ways for people to share, and we are extremely excited to join such a like-minded group.’
Taylor and Buchheit founded FriendFeed along with Jim Norris and Sanjeev Singh in October 2007 after all four played key roles at Google for products like Gmail and Google Maps. At FriendFeed, they’ve brought together a world-class team of engineers and designers.
‘Since I first tried FriendFeed, I’ve admired their team for creating such a simple and elegant service for people to share information,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO. “As this shows, our culture continues to make Facebook a place where the best engineers come to build things quickly that lots of people will use.’
FriendFeed is based in Mountain View, Calif. and has 12 employees. FriendFeed.com will continue to operate normally for the time being as the teams determine the longer term plans for the product.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not released.”
